TMR: plan the ingredients before loading the mixer

Start with the machine's information

The GIANTS Academy's Total Mixed Ration (TMR) tutorial describes an ingredient-percentage display and covers hay, silage, straw and mineral feed. Barns with feeding robots use a separate workflow; check which setup you are planning.

For a mixer, note the machine's capacity and inspect its ingredient indicators before loading. Check the current contents as well as the material you intend to add. A remembered bale count is not enough information when the bale dimensions or mixer capacity differ.

Make a short loading sheet

Write down the available ingredients and the quantities you intend to use. Keep quantities in a consistent unit where the game provides that information. If you only know the number of bales, mark the missing volume rather than treating all bales as equal.

Identify hay and silage before loading. Beside each planned addition, leave space to record what you actually added and what the display showed afterwards. Keep some material outside the mixer while checking the result instead of committing the whole available stock at once.

Use the equipment pages to identify the mixer. Confirm any missing capacity, bale or material details in the game shop and the instructions for that machine.

Check the result before delivering

Add material gradually and recheck the contents and ingredient indicators after each addition. Use those observations to decide what to add next. Avoid repeating a loading pattern from another machine without checking your current batch.

Before transporting the feed, confirm that the game identifies the mixture you intended to make and that the animal building accepts it. Record a successful batch with the mixer, ingredient quantities and any relevant settings, so you can repeat it deliberately.

Review the sheet when changing the mixer, bale dimensions or feeding setup. Keep the batch recipe separate from its budget: record the price of bought ingredients and how you value forage you produced yourself. This makes it possible to compare batches without presenting one successful load as an exact recipe for every machine or feeding robot.
