Check size before choosing equipment
The GIANTS Academy explains that stones affect machinery damage rather than crop yield. Small stones can be rolled into the soil; medium and large stones require a stone picker. Any separate soil-rolling yield bonus is a different effect.
Check whether stones are enabled and inspect the field information or stone map layer. Note the size you need to deal with before comparing machines. A low purchase price does not help if the tool does not suit the stones in the field.
Fit the work into the field plan
Write down the next operation you intend to perform and the time available for stone removal. Check the chosen tool's instructions against the current field condition before deciding when to use it.
For a picking job, plan access, collection and unloading as well as the field pass. Decide where the collected material will go and check that the route is practical with the equipment you intend to use. For rolling, confirm the intended purpose of the pass so you do not credit stone removal with a separate soil-treatment effect.
Compare the equipment pages for recorded specifications. Use the work-time calculator with a suitable width and speed, then allow for travel and handling that the field estimate does not cover.
Keep the budget explicit
Separate machinery purchase or rental, time spent on the job and any repair costs you can actually observe. If you cannot estimate future wear reliably, leave it unknown rather than inserting a percentage that makes one option look better.
If you postpone the job, write down the reason and the maintenance risk you are accepting. An urgent harvest and a routine maintenance decision should appear as separate considerations in the plan.
After the pass, inspect the field again and record what changed. Keep the tool, stone size and settings with that observation. Use the result to improve the next job's plan without adding extra harvested volume simply because stones were removed.
