Choose rice or long grain rice by working through a complete season before buying machinery. The useful comparison is between two jobs you can finish, including the equipment you already own and the work you will need to arrange.
GIANTS' rice lesson describes saplings and specialist planting and harvesting machines. Its long grain lesson describes a regular seeder and grain header. Check the exact crop support in your shop; a familiar machine name is insufficient.
Compare two complete setups
Make a column for each crop and fill in preparation, planting, harvest, transport and destination. Mark every item as owned and checked, quoted for hire, or still to confirm. Include construction and land spending separately so that an inexpensive machine does not hide an expensive start.
For each uncertain item, write the next check rather than a guessed price. Open the equipment catalogue, then confirm its current configuration in game. The compatibility tool can help with recorded relationships, but a missing relationship needs another check.
Check water at each growth stage
Do not plan long grain rice as a permanently dry crop. The inspected FS25 1.24 definitions for both rice types specify minimum water during early growth and a zero maximum in late growth and harvest-ready states. The accompanying schema connects these bounds to growth and yield effects. This conflicts with the Academy’s no-water instruction; the earlier preview also describes flooding after sowing.
Use the current crop-stage and pump information to decide when to fill or drain your paddy. The files do not establish a universal watering interval, pump percentage or complete runtime schedule, and the cycle was not tested in play.
Rehearse harvest day
Walk the intended access route and choose a place for the trailer to wait. Consider the return trip after unloading, turning space and whether another farm job needs the same tractor. Price any additional transport that your first equipment list omitted.
Keep both plans for the same intended area and selling assumptions. Prefer the option whose unresolved tasks you can actually settle, then start with a manageable area. Record what you hired, how you delivered and where delays occurred. Those observations will make the next comparison more useful than a general claim that one rice crop always earns more.
